All About Categories

Categories are your friend when using PSM. They help you customize a lot of the software for your studio. Here is a video to help you get started, and below follows a summary of the video:

Charge categories are like revenue categories to help you track payments. You can add/edit charge categories, and select the order you want them to appear.

Payment methods help you track the sources of income

Genre is the overall field for the types of classes that you run

Levels are pretty self explanatory, and are used for setting up prerequistes.

Locations can help students know where the need to go, and then we can use this field to decide where classes appear in the calendar (ex. in the app).

Programs are good for overall categorization, ex. Aerial vs Pole, and good way to subdivide classes into tabs in the online client.

How hear items can be used by your customers or staff to tell you how the customers heard about you, whether that be driving by, Facebook, your website, etc.

Charge categories are similar to purchase categories, and are a second way to collect data in reports.

Membership categories are an awesome feature in Pole Studio Manager, and allows students to have more than one membership category at a time, and can be used to link sales items to fees or discounts. Also, icons can be setup so when you see students in the student list or search, and you and your staff will instantly know what type of membership the student is currently using. Membership categories can be based on sales item purchase, or set by the admin, and the start and termination date can be set as well.
